Overview:
Maurile was Bishop of Angers in the late 4th - early 5th centuries. According to his vita, he was born into an illustrous Milanese family and converted by St Martin, who was passing through the area on his way back from Hungary and had stopped in Milan to build a monastery. After Martin was driven away by the local mob, Maurille was tutored by St Ambrose until the death of his father, after which he left home to re-join St Martin at Tours. Martin ordained him and sent him to Angers, where he fought against heresy, built churches and worked various miracles (in the usual manner of local bishop-saints) before dying at the age of 90 in 426.
