Overview:
As with the other surviving paired lancets, the two Joseph windows in bay 111, the story of Joshua starts here in the right hand lancet and then continues to the left. Although this right-to-left reading order may be counter-intuitive, it ensures that the stories radiate out from the liturgically most important east end. Within each lancet, reading order would originally have followed the same general pattern as the other bays at Poitiers (left to right, top to bottom) though this has been severly disrupted by the loss of seven panels and the probable repositioning of others in the wrong place by restorers.

The first half of the Joshua story begins with the arrival of the Israelite spies in Jericho and their receiving aid from Rahab the harlot (Jos 2). It concludes with the Gibeonites tricking the Israelites into making a peace treaty (Jos 9). The second lancet (117a) then continues where this one leaves off with King Adonizedek forming an alliance to fight against the invading Israelites (Jos 10)
