104a Panel 03 - Miracle of the fir tree
Description:
Martin sought to destroy a fir tree sacred to the pagan godess Diana - the outraged locals tried to ensure the tree would fall on the saint but in spite of their best efforts it fell the other way, wounding the priests of her cult. Although the episode appears in various other St Martin windows, this example is unusual in showing the villagers tugging on a rope to make the falling tree land on the saint.
