Panel 26 - Pilgrims 'incubating' at the Apostle's shrine

Incubation was the Greek practice of sleeping in Temples in hope of a vision or cure. The practice was extremely popular with saint's shrines throughout the middle ages, particularly for those who underwent a pilgrimage to a saint's shrine in hope of a miraculous cure.
