Bay 18 (St Thomas Becket)

Panels 24+25 - St Thomas on his tomb, with a censing angel, a cripple and a blind man

 © Stuart Whatling, 2008

A slightly odd scene this - the presence of a censing angel is more usual for a saint's funeral but we also see here two of the people who came to his shrine in search of cures. These figures are presumably meant as a proleptic indication of the miracles that supposedly started within a week of his death.
