Panel 04 - Mary washing Christ's feet in the house of Simon the Pharisee
A typical representation of the scene where Luke's "un-named sinner" washes Christ's feet with her tears and dries them with her hair, while he sits at dinner in the house of Simon the Pharisee. One unusual and charming detail the artist has included here, alongside the usual covered goblets and cross-cut bread rolls, are the little carrots, with their distinctive feathery leaves, scattered across the patterned table-cloth (see detail below).
