Panel 27 - Martin heals a servant of the proconsul Tetradius (right half)

In the right half of the scene Tetradius and a servant lead the possessed man, hands bound behind his back and with feet and legs bare, towards saint Martin, who approaches from panel 25.

Note the different social statuses expressed through clothing; the proconsul in hat, cloak and long tunic, his steward with cloak and tunic but no hat, the possessed servant just with a short cotte. Although details of clothing are not always very helpful in isolation, they can easily be used to show relative gradations like this. The central figure's head is original but has been replaced at the wrong angle by restorers, leaving his neck in the wrong place. If positioned correctly, the head should be tipped back, rather than facing forwards.
