Panel 25 - Martin heals a servant of the proconsul Tetradius (left half)

One of the servants of Tetradius, described as "a man of proconsular rank" is possessed by a devil, causing him to gnash his teeth and attack his companions. Martin refuses to visit the house of the proconsul since the latter is still a practising pagan and instead orders the patient to be brought to him. The servant is brought to Martin, who casts out the evil spirit. Tetradius then converts to Christianity.

This panel and panel 27 should be read as a single scene. The rural scenary in both serves to emphasise that the encounter takes place away from Tetradius' house. The artist has also taken the opportunity to incorporate another detail mentioned by Sulpicius, which is that Martin always travelled on an ass (as a mark of his humility).
