Description:
A slightly confusing scene, which may reflect an earlier source. In the Golden Legend version, the court sorcerers caused a mass of serpents to appear and ordered them to attack Simon and Jude, who instead turn the serpents back against their former masters. In an earlier episode, Baradach wanted to have his sorcerers put to death by fire (until the Apostles stopped him) so this may be a conflation of the two scenes.
The head of the crowned figure to the right is clearly a later repair.
